Many of us came into the charity world for work with meaning, something that engages with the world as it is and nudges it a little closer to what it could be. Then the weeks stack up. Rejections land. Spreadsheets multiply. What started as purpose can begin to feel like drudgery.

So today, take a breath. Reconnect with why you’re doing this. Fundraising for a small charity can be one of the most exciting, rewarding, and meaningful jobs there is, not because it’s easy, but because it moves real things in the real world.

Two friends messaged me this week, buzzing about grants they’d won. I hadn’t written a word of those bids. They just wanted to share the joy. That feeling when funding arrives and the work can continue? That’s worth remembering.
